Anyone in the upper north island holler back at Maaka he is keen to train. Maaka is a Level One Instructor and senior student of Sifu Nathan Ferrier (Langi) as well as having exclusive private tuition with myself and Master Kevin Earle.

Inst. Adrian is in Ak. I'm sure Master Kevin can give you his details. I guess my first Inst. Mark Nicholson is there too, but don't have his details... an oversight I plan to address!

Cheers

Good to hear from you Maaka. We have two students in Auckland you can probably train with. Debbie Lomax has just moved there. She is a keen student, keeps her fees up to date, and travelled regular from Blenheim to Christchurch to train with me. She has committed to flying down here on occasion, and I will be travelling up there soon to train with her and also with Adrian, our Auckland Instructor.

Both are financial members of the Association, and as members they are advised to train only with other Association members.

The membership fee is only $5.50 a week, paid by automatic payment to our nominated bank account.

You will no doubt be aware that I recently travelled to Queenstown and Wanaka for workshops, and to up skill our instructors there, and that early last year we hosted Beau from Sydney, with discounted participation fees for Association members.

And as I said, I am looking at being in Auckland soon – hopefully before the end of March. Such travel is necessary to give our Instructors and members the necessary hands on training, however it is only made possible with $$$’s, and we have the financial members to thank for helping make that possible.

On that basis I would like to invite you to become a financial member of the Association.

If you would like accept that offer, please email me back and I will forward you the banking details.
Cheers,
Kevin

As an aside, several people contacted me for information on whether it would be worth their paying $290 to attend a wing chun workshop hosted by a visiting wing chun instructor. I told them, honestly, that I could not advise them one way or another. The ironic twist was that not only did they seek my advice for free, but they baulk at paying a few dollars a week to train with the original wing chun school in New Zealand, Earle’s Academy, where they can get on-going support and guidance; yet they are willing to give $290 to some visitor who would be gone in a day or two, with no follow up support.

I did visit with this visiting wing chun Master, and photos and details will appear on the Earle's Academy website in the next week or so...

Thanks everyone for your help. I have as of yesterday been in contact with Debbie Lomax and am following up on that lead so thanks so much, any contact with anyone from our lineage up here is greatly appreciated

In regards to becoming a financial member I do plan to once my situation becomes more stable. One of the disadvantages of being an actor is irregular income; at this stage Im employed through Feb - April in which Im able to contribute and would even be able to put aside the $290 workshop fee, though my inconsistent financial situation may not be suitable because of the irregularity in which I'd be making payments throughout the year. I will however take the account number to contribute what I can.

Once I've got a steady income i'll let you know, but definitely thank you for the offer Master Kevin. Look forward to seeing you up here.

Peace all
